Professor Xia was elected a Fellow of the
American Physical
Society (APS) for his tremendous contributions to the
present experimental knowledge and understanding of Turbulent Rayleigh-Bénard
Convection. With a stringent evaluation by the Fellowship committee, the
election to Fellowship is limited to no more than 0.5% of APS members and is
considered one of the highest honors in Physics. This Fellowship signifies
recognition of the excellent work by Prof. Xia and his research team from the
professional peers. It's a great laurel. Congratulations to Prof. Xia!

nurture the growth of science and technology in the region.
Three awards will be given
annually at the HKIS Annual Meeting (usually held in October/November), one
in each of the following
fields:
(a) Physical/Mathematical
science
(b) Life science
(c) Engineering science
Each award carries a cash
prize of $10,000 and a certificate of recognition. Other short-listed candidates
will receive certificates of recognition.
