Optics and Lasers (Experimental)

Mie scattering from laser levitated microdroplets of liquids such as water, alkali halide acqueous solutions are being studied. Photorefractive effects in selected ferroelectric crystals: two-wave coupling, self-pumped phase conjugation, and spatial soliton experiments are being conducted. Lasing properties of a dye-doped pendent drop as well as properties of high-order rainbows (up to the 200th-order) formed by a pendant drop are being investigated.
