Backgrounds:
The recent advances in cooling and trapping of atomic gases have opened fascinating experimental possibilities to realize low-dimensional systems with tunable strength of the interaction. For example, by changing the trap intensity and hence the atomic interaction strength, the crossover from a Bose-Einstein condensate to a Tonks-Girardeau gas has been observed. Moreover, the strongly interacting Fermi gas created in a one-dimensional optical lattice has been proved to be a realization of a tunable Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid. Other systems, line the degenerate Fermi gas interacting with contact interaction, which is firstly solved by Prof. C. N. Yang, could be also realized by cold atoms. These experimental progresses renew the interest in integrable systems since such toy models introduced long ago have now an opportunity to be realized. Objectives:
To survey and address various issues on exactly solvable models and their applications to recent experiments on cold-atom systems; and to strengthen cooperation for people working in related fields. Program:
The workshop will consist of about two and half days of invited presentations, and a half day discussion/excursion. Language: English
