Materials such as metals and alloys, electronic materials, ceramics, composites and polymers provide the backbone to all
innovations in many branches of science and technology. The objectives of our Materials Science and Engineering (MSE)
Division are: to launch cutting edge research in various areas, and to train MPhil or PhD students who are interested in
undertaking materials research projects. Field of specialization includes: Physics of thin films; Superconducting
materials; Undercooled liquids and glass formation; Nanostructured materials and nanotechnology; Optical properties of
semiconductors; Photonics; Composites and ceramics; Soft matters; Nonlinear optics; Novel laser media and laser systems;
Thermoluminescence; and Surface science.
