Dear Potential EAS Applicants,

When you read this letter on the CUHK physics department website, you are probably considering physics as a possible major in your EAS application this year. If so, CUHK is the place for you.  In this website, you will find out the strength of our Department and the quality of education that we provide to our undergraduates. Our rigorous curriculum, coupled with various student-centered learning opportunities that we have developed in recent years and the flexible credit system at CUHK, provides a rigorous and thorough training to our undergraduates at a level comparable to any major research universities in the world. For those of you who plan to do research work in the future, our graduates have been admitted to PhD programs in top graduate schools around the world. I am sure you will be impressed by what we can offer. General information of our curriculum can be found in our department website.

You are most welcome to contact us directly for further information about our curriculum, the learning opportunities that CUHK Physics Department provides, university life at CUHK, etc. Please feel free to send your enquiries to our EAS hotline at eas@phy.cuhk.edu.hk, or contact any one of the following teaching staff of the Physics Department:

You may also contact us through the physics department general office at 2609-6154.

For your information, we expect to admit about 70 Year 1 students in 2008, and up to 1/3 of the quota can be allocated to EAS applicants. CUHK physics has attracted by far the largest number of EAS students. We admitted 7 EAS students in 2002, 3 EAS students in 2003, 11 EAS students in 2004, 9 EAS students in 2005, 5 EAS students in 2006 and 3 EAS students in 2007. Together with the quality students we have admitted through JUPAS in recent years, we have the best physics students in Hong Kong. We look forward to your joining us.

Sincerely,
