When you hold a glass cup and pour hot water into it, your hand will soon feel the heat from the hot water and may get scalded by it. This is because heat is transferred through the glass by conduction due to the temperature difference between the inner and outer surfaces of the cup. Whenever a temperature difference exists between different regions of an object, conduction takes place and energy is transferred from the hotter regions to the colder regions.
Conduction is the process of heat flow from regions of higher temperatures to regions of lower temperatures through a medium.
